LOCAL BODY POLLS.
PROGRESSIVE SCHEME APPROVED. Ratepayers in the Mt.- Wellington Road Board district on Saturday sanctioned, among other loan proposals, their contribution to the concreting of the Great South Road. This work involves an expenditure of £7700. Altogether £30,000 was involved in the loan proposals. The voting was as follows: — For the proposal 137 Against the proposal 13 Majority for 144 Loans for drainage and the purchase of a fire engine were approved by the Avondale ' ratepayers.
