TO THE SPORTINO PUBLIC AUCKLAND.
I beg to advise that the disqualific, tion imposed upon mc by the Aueklmwi District Committee of Racing Was U n the following grounds:—lt was aU £°2 that I backed my liorse to win Su, bookmakers; after giving the full,* information to the district committ» and after they had called all evidence over a period of five month,! it was clear that the charge was disproved. • The committee, knowing that they ha* no evidence in support of the charge, thereupon called upon mc to m Te them a written authority on my bankers to investigate my private hank account and all papers in connection therewith. in the hope that they might find some . thing to support their charge. Upon mv solicitor's advice I refused, and notified the committee that such a request Was unreasonable. The committee have dismissed the charge against mc of betting with bookmakers, but have held that, as I have refused to sign the order on my bankers, and as the rules of racing provide that any person who "refuses to supply MT information" is guilty of a "corrupt practice," I must for the "corrupt pnL tice" of not laying the whole of ay private affairs before them, be disqualified for three years. The committee knows that as my horses become thereby disqualified including three valuable two-year-oUU ; entered for classic engagements, this means the loss to mc of a very large eva of money. I ask my friends and the public generally to suspend their judgment until after my appeal has been settled. I am, Yours Faithfully, L. C. BKIEKLY.
