LEAGUE TOURING TEAM.

BRILLIANT PASSING BOUTS. THE ENGLISHMEN WIN AGAIN. (By Telesraph.—Special to 'Star.") XGAKTJAWAHIA, Monday. The English League footballers played the third game of their New Zealand I tour at Xgaruawahia to-day, against a j Waikato team. The day was an ideal i one for football and not one in the i large crowd present could have been disappointed in the brilliant exposition given by the visitors. The English men ■were met at the station by tlie League olticials and conveyed in cars to their respective hotels. Before the match commenced the players were accorded a civic reception by the Mayor (Dr. .Martin). It was quite apparent as the Britishers filed on to the Held that they were a heavier team than the home one. Eight of the visitors that played in Hamilton last week were replaced by other members of the touring- team, and, although on paper, to-day's team did not represent the lost combination that they could place on the field, they were a long way superior in every department of the" game than the team of the home side. The passing of the visitors in to-day's match was again brilliant, and it was very noticeable that the Englishmen do not believe in unneccessary kicking. The local men continually kicked the ball into their opponents hands, and practically on every occasion this resulted in the visitors setting- up one of their great passing bouts. The tackling of the~Waikato men was quite below their usual standard, although in the second half the local men improved. The visitors, as a team, had no weak link. Mooney their half played an exceptionally good game, and failed very few fimes to secure the ball from the pack, and set the backs in motion. For Waikato, Tut Wilson, B. Paki, and Jackson were outstanding, the latters tackling saving the home side repeatedly. It is a pity this lad is not heavier. Mr. W. Waring , , of Taupiri, was in charge of the game, and it must be said that the game was played in the most friendly spirit, the referee having on no occasion to find fault with any of the players. The visitors are being- entertained to--1 night by the local Maoris at the Kimikimi Hall, across the river at Xgaruawahia. The Game. Carr, Roes and Howley were concerned in a passing movement, but the latter was grounded, and the ball went out. From the scrum Waikato secured and dribbled well down the ground till Thompson cut in and dribbled back, with Wilson relieving. For an English offence Raynor made a good attempt to kick a goal, but just missed. Mooney obtained and sent out to Thompson to Broiigh. who inpassed to Thompson, who was earthed, and a free brought relief to the local men. Knapmau picked up the leather, giving it to Brough. to Moonev, who reversed to Brough and Rix, the latter scoring and Thompson kicking an easy goal.
