RICHMOND V. ATHLETIC.

The teams were: — Richmond.—Hanion, -McLean, Whittington, McMillan, Hing, Hyland, McDonald, Redwood, Avery, McEwen, Dunn, Hum, Little. Athletics. — Cox, Yurdley, McGregor, Dufty, Te Whata, G. Yardley. Nicholson, Hadley, Graham, Mason, Herring, WebD, Avery. Richmond kicked off against the wind, and charged down until a breach pulled them up. Dufty relieved, and -S'icbolson got tbe leather and set up a passing bout, which ended in Richmond's twenty-five. Hing and Hunt broke through and made a brief excursion into Athletics' territory, but the latter lost the ball and Dufly found the line with a well-placed kick. From the scrum Hing got possession, but just as he was about to iuitiate a passing rush Herring collared him. The ball went out tv Dufty, und making a run he transferred to Nicholson. McGregor was the next to handle the ball, and he gave it to Nicholson. Hadley then rushed in, accepted nicely, aud registered. Mason converted. Athletics 5, Richmond 0. MeMillan gathered the ball from the ground and set tbe Ulchmond forwards in motion, Hyland nearly succeeding iv crossing the line. Kichmond continued attacking for a few minutes until Cox brought relief with a useful kick. The Richmond forwards were playing well and making desperate efforts to break down the defence but the yellow and blues were too solid, and the backs too nippy. G. Yardley got well away and was about to score himself, but Hanion collared him. and the ball went out to Webb, and then on to Graham. Hadley was again bandy, aud taking a good pass from Graham he dashed over. Mason's kick failed. Not a minute later McGregor made a nice opening for Mason, who dashed down the field from the halfway Hue and scored behind the posts. Graham took the kick, which went wide. Athletics 11. Richmond 0. When Athletics were attacking Hadley got off-side and spoilt a good chance. McDonald followed up well, and gaining the leather took Hyland and Hing along with him, a bright piece of work ending in a scrum five yards from Athletics' line. Hyland offended by playing off-side, aud Dufty gained a lot of ground with his kick. Richmond's forwards strain got busy and gave the other s'de a merry few minutes. McDonald beat Yardley and tried to bullock his wav through, but lost the ball. Whittington then came up fast, and cathering up the ball made a good run. but he was not supported, and a certain try was missed. The Athletic forwards h-outrht the hall down at toe. and Dufty picked up nnd if a son converted. At half-time the score was: Athletics -C Richmond 0 SECOND SPELL. The second spell opened with a bright passing bout by the Richmond forwards, hut this was nullified by Te Whata and H. Yardley. who shifted play into Richmond's half. Hanion relieved the pressure, and Hunt and lling put in some excellent work, but could not get through. McDonald then had a free kick from near half-way, the ball falling only a few feet short of the crossbar. Athletic won the ball from a scrum on Athletics twenty-five line, and Dufty, when ahout to punt, was pushed out. Graham. Te Whata and Herring took the play to Richmond's area, but the forwards were soon back again, and Hyland made a desperate dash before passing 1 to Hing. Str, boat t'oromandel Old Boys. 5. Coleman scored three tries, i'ireeu two, Purdy two, Thorburn one. r'errall one, and Kemp one. for fifty. Sandham kicked Ihree goals, and Kerrall one. For t'oromaude). Lye scored a try, and Gould kicked a goal. Richmond, 6. heat Point Chevalier, 3. Camp-bell and Mills scored tries for Richmond. FOURTH GRADE. Parnell, 26, beat United Suburbs, nil. FIFTH GRADE. Otahuhu, 17, beat Northcote, 7. Hargreaves scored two tries or Otahuhu. and kicked four goals, and Kwan scored one try. SIXTH GRADE A. City .".", beat Leys Institute 0. Tries were .scored by Rea (21, Campbell (fl), L. Johnston. Leydon. Alderton (2). and J. Johnston. Hurt-hard converted four, Leydon three, and Alderton one. Richmond, 14, beat Newton, nil.
