COMMUNITY SINGING FUNDS.
(To the Eilltor.) Sir, —In reference to community singing, I consider jour correspondent is altogether wrong in suggesting that the spare cash from the collections be equally donated to the various charities in this city. By far the best way is to help one at a time, so that it can operate quickly for the benefit of those it seeks to help. And what cause more worthy could be helped than the halfway house, advocated by the man who has done most to make the singing a success—the city missioner—tho Rev. Jasper Calder. To make community singing a greater success, I suggest that it be held at night-time—7.3o till 9.30. There should then bo no lack of helpers, and people would be able to go who now find the midday hour quite impossible. The Town Hall, which is the people's hall, should bo free for the people at a time suitable for the greatest number. Not as it is at present, when owing to circumstances, only a certain i few are able to attend.-—I am, etc., UNABLE TO GO.
