AT A TRAM STOP.

i • ! PASSENGER KNOCKED DOWN. The story of an qftcident at an One- ; hungii tram stop was related at the ' Onehunga Police Court yesterday, when Frederick Lovelock was charged before Mr. W. B. McKean, S.M., with negligently driving a motor car on May ; 2S last, and at the same time commiting a breach, of the borough by-laws. i The evidence for the prosecution was ; to the effect that shortly after 7 p.m. defendant drove his car past a stationary ' tram opposite the Onehunga Post Office, , •and knocked down a man named Hugh • H. Lloyd, as the latter was about to board the "tram car. For the defence , Lovelock said he was ahead of the tram . car when he knocked Lloyd down. Her husband I got out of the ear before the tram car . arrived. ' Mr. McKean said the two charges ' arose out of the same facts, and he ' accepted the evidence for the prosecution. On the first charge Lovelock was : fined £2 with' £2 17/ costs, and £2 with 7/ costs for the second offence. . On April a last Charles W. Simpson . was driving a motor car through. Onehunga, and when turning ouif of Trafalgar Street into Auckland Road at about 6 p Jn., he knocked down two veran- ' dan posts, the property of Mr. J. Robins, to whom he refused to give his name and address. For negligent driving he was con-' victed and fined £2 with £2 5/ costs, and another £2 with costs 34/ for refusing . to give his name and address. On a third charge of driving a motor car without a certificate of competency Simpsqn had to pay 27/, i
