NORTH-BOUND TRAIN .DELAYED.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
TAIHAPE, this day.
A goods train which left Ohakunc last night about 11 o'clock was derailed just south of Gardner's mill siding. Four loaded trucks and two empties left the rails, and one of the trucks toppled over a bank into the Hautapu River, which i 9 close to the railway at this point. Relief gangs were set to work immediately to clear the wreckage, but the line was not cleared till after eight o'clock this morning.
The passenger train which leaves Taihape for the North at 5.40 in the morning was delayed for over three hours, nnd the express from Auckland was delayed just over three hours.
The cause of the derailment of the * rucks is unknown. The line is now t'lear, and ordinary traffic has been resumed.
This is the second time in a short period that trucks on the goods train have left the rails on the main line, the first occurring between Kaikaransi and Hunterville some weeks ago. The exexpress was held up here for 35 minutes, so pasenger3 had breakfast.
