WHAT IS A QUARRY?
AUCKLAND APPEAL CASE. (By Teleg.-st.li.—Press As^ocl.itton.l WELLINGTON, this day. The Court of Appeal to-day heard argument in the case of Lewis versus the Tamaki West Road District, an action removed into t?ie Appeal Court by Mr. Justice Herdman for determination of certain questions of law. These were: (1) was the place where a worker (Lewis) was injured a "stone quarry" within the nieaning,of the Stone Quarries Act, 1910, so that certain regulations as to mode of working (which in this case were not followed) applied? and (2) was the injured worker at time of injury in the employ of the road board or of one Barry, a" contractor for the board ?' ■■ The case stands part heard.
