EMPIRE DEVELOPMENT.

HUGE SUMS FOR AUSTRALIA. (Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. With the return to Australia of Senator Wilson, who has been negotiating with the British Government regarding migration, it is expected that Mr. Stanley Bruce (Prime Minister) will shortly be in a position to announce the terms of the new agreement. If the agreement is signed, nearly £40,000,000 will be available for development work in the Commonwealth during the ensuing decade. In the present form the agreement provides for the payment of half interest by the British Government fqr a period of five years and onuthird interest for the following five. The Commonwealth pays one-quarter interest, and the States themselves the remainder. The money will probably be raised at 5 per cent.—(A. and X.Z. Cable.)
