TRAMWAYS CLUB.
FUND FOR THE SICK. The tramways manager reported to the City Council last night, that an amount of £400, being a quarter of one per cent of the gross revenue o! the tramways between December 23 and March 31 last, had been paid to the Tramways club, in terms of the Empowering Act. The club, he intimated, used the money for sick, accident and recreation purposes, and was registered under the Friendly Societies Act. In order that the benefits to members might continue to be subscribed, he asked the council to provide the club regularly with a quarter of one per cent of the gross revenue, approximating £122 per month. That amount had beeu. allowed for in the estimate of expenses passed la«t April. The Tramways Committee 1 the granting of the manager? request, and the council endorsed the recommendation.
