ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL

A meeting of the above Council was held last night. There were present:—Messrs. J. E. Cowell (Mayor), W. C. Coldicutt, T. .K. Gilbert, K. G. Barnes; F. H. Dodd, C. E. Uoode, A. J. Hipwell,'G. Hunter. Finance.—The general account is ..In credit £373 17/; the domains) account in debt £455. Accounts amounting to £1684 were passed for payment. ' Engineer's Report—The council received the engineer's report, containing the following recommendations :—(l) That E. B. Pieknell's offer to sell two draught horses, spring dray, harness and., covers for the Bum of £12(3 10/ be. accepted, subject to the liorses being passed by a competent judge. (12) That a motor car be procured for the ' engineer. (4) That extension telephones and speaking tube or'internal telephone "be installed in the engineer's room;— All the recommendations were adoped, Councillor . Hunter recording his vote against the purChase of a motor car. A Gift of Land.—The council accepted Hr. S. Bradley's offer to give 30 feet of land fronting Clark and Campbell :Koads to . round off the corner. . Declined.—Mr. C. F. Lindsay's appllca' tion for permission to erect a temporary wooden office in the brick area in Queen Street was declined. Mount Smart.—A legal opinion was real fromthe borough solicitors re the council's powers of leasing a portion of Mount Smart reserve.—lt was decided that the company applying for a lease be asked to define the ■ area required, and then that application be made to the Minister of Lands for his sanction to Jease. . Seddon Memorial. —-The • question of removing the Seddon Memorial to. a more convenient site was considered, and it was decided that the One Tree Hill and Mount Kosklll Kond Hoards should lie Bounded, and if agreeable that the Prime Minister be asked to allpw.it to be moved oh to the Post : Omeo site at the Koyal Oak.
