POLICE COURT.
' (Before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.) REMANDED. Paul Augustine Martin, (24) was, on the application of Chief Detective Cummings. remanded, to appear at Napier on May 23, on a charge of having failed to. provide his wife with adequate main-" tenance. £100, was.allowed. Charged with the theft of a repeating rifle valued at £5, William Roycroft (32) was remanded until May 23. Senior Sergeant Rawle said there were other charges pending. OF THE LOW TYPE. When charged with being a rogue and vagabond in that he had no lawful visible means of support. David Morgan (4<i) pleaded guilty. Senior Sergeant I Rawle ' said that Morgan, who was a i seaman, made a statement to Constable j Walton admitting that he had not done I any work since Christmas. He had I been keeping- Company with the woman j Slattery, who was before the Police : Coiirt yesterday on charges of consort- | ing and vagrancy, and said that she had I given him money, the proceeds of prosti- | tution. The Senior Sergeant stated that i Morgan had 10 previous convictions for vagrancy, etc. "He is just as low a. class of human as you could get.' , concluded Mr. Rawle. I The Magistrate consigned Morgan to i Mount Eden for jthrec months.
