Adelaide, is liove-to 100 miles north of Auckland. A married woman, Mrs. M. TyndaTl, found drowned in a well at St. Helier'a Bay this morning. Several launches wrecked or severely damaged on the northern foreshore during the storm last night. Several hundred men off the warships stranded ashore last night owing to the launches being unable to ply. Manaia had to put back to port after sailing for Whangarei last night. She returned to the wharf at I_o a.m. North Shore waterfront strewn with flotsam to-day in the shape of wreckage from small craft, logs, and other odds and ends. Over three-quarters of an inch of rain fell in the 24 hours to 9 a.m. to-day, with a very heavy fall throughout the morning. Army Council is fully alive to the possibility of using Dominion's frozen meat in preference to Foreign, according .to Secretary for the Colonies. John Andrew Fox, a taxi driver, sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment by Mr. Justice Stringer to-day after conviction for manslaughter of Constable Todd, who was in car driven by Fox when intoxicated.
