A cyclist for 40 years, and a racer on one of the high bicycles in the old days, Henry Lewis Ryan. aged 60, storkbroker's clerk, of Arnold Road, Tooting. was fatally injured while cycling over London Bridge when it was thronged with home-going crowds. He was cycling near the kerb when two men stepped into the roadway and knocked against hi*. Fte was thrown under a motor bus with his bicycle on top of him, and it was over 20 minutes before he coulil be extricated, a passing motorist having to lend the police a jack to raise the vehicle. At Guy's Hospital one of his brothers gave nearly a pint of blood for transfusion, but he died under an operation. At the inquest the jury recorded a verdict of "Accidental Death," and exonerated the bus driver.
