Lightly fork over the 0 ~f. surface between the rows to bury the weeds. f>~ 3 Plant Iris tingitana; a light, sandy, well drained soil is necessary. ji? v Herbaceous borders should be remodelled, trenched and well p≥ ~£ i r manured. p. Lift, divide and replant Paeonies. fe Clean away all rubbish from flower beds and borders. Collect stakes cJL and put away for next season. ££ Plant shrubs; any that need transplanting should be done now. .;; Cut down Chrysanthemums to within six inches of the ground when |j ij flowering is over. Burn all tops and leaves. Ip ) Gather old leaves and stack in a heap or place them in a pit to rot R? and make leaf mould. jltr S, Any remodelling of the garden should be started as soon as possible, j>^ so that it is well in hand before spring. ' jj!i jj Trees, shrubs and Roses can be planted. Prepare the site well. fe J THE VEGETABLE GARDEN. 3 Trench and manure all vacant ground. fi-;-j Prepare ground for planting early Peas and Potatoes. |fe 3 Place seed Potatoes in boxes to sprout. j^ ■; Sort over Potatoes in store. Remove any that are diseased. j>i "ji Lift Carrots and store in a dry shed if they are commencing to '■■-. 35 split or rot. t^ Remove the lower leaves of Brussels Sprouts. S^ -Jjj Gather and bury all bad and yellow foliage amongst Cabbages and E H Cauliflowers. |; .- : ; ' i Gather and store Pumpkins, Pic Melons, etc. W 1* Shallots can be planted now.
