A FRENCH JEZEBEL. AMORISTE AND SPY. Alwine Brusis, a 2S-year-old French film actress and an extraordinary beauty, was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment for espionage by the Supreme Court at Lcipsig. The judgment was passed after the prosecutors for two days had read the contents of her diary, which contained complete details of her life with vivid descriptions of her many passionate love affaire, the ensnaring of important men and her thrilling adventures as a spy. The Incriminating diury had fallen into the hands of German agents while the girl waß in a state of nervous collapse following the death of her mother, who had lived in Dusseldorf since the occupation. Mile. Brusis' espionage activities in Germany date only since the end of the war, and perhaps the most damaging information she gave out was concerning the secret military organisations which are still in existence. From each of these secret corps she collected badges and insignia and delivered them to the French with the information that the secret fighting forces numbered more than 200,000 men. Further reports covered the activities of the Orgesch Society, which was a big factor In the Kapp revolution and delivered proof as to what extent It was fostered by Bavaria. She also turned over evidence against militarism In the Federal police organisation. Much of this information was obtained through Mile. Brusis' conquest of Capt. yon Zorlasen, an officer In the German secret service.. Mile. Brusis, who began her career as a dancer in Paris revue, entered the films jnst before the war. Later she was Induced to enter tbe espionage service, and was sent to the central bureau at Nice, where, according to her diary records, she engaged in an affair with a high French officer. A French diplomat at the Genoa Conference, one of > the French commanders in Upper Silesia, and a young medical student at Hanover are listed among others of her temporary adorers. The latter, who revealed German secrets after the war, is now in a prison at Hanover as the result of his "stupidity," as the girl described the incident in her diary. Other passages record how she attempted to induce Gaby Demourleux to enter the spy service, nnd when the latter refused caused her arrest and appropriated her admirer, a French officer holding an Important post. It Is reported that associates of Mile. Brusis were paid as high as 10,000 dollars a month. The trial, which lasted a week, was held in secret.
