Mr. .T. Mcintosh has been appointed Collector of Customs at Dunedin. Mr. G. Craig (Controller of Customs) is at present on an official visit to Auckland. Mr. L. F." Ayson, Chief Inspector of Fisheries, was a passenger for the South j last evening. I Messrs. G. Giddy, D. S. Matthew, G. ! Craig and W. H. Connell, all of Wellington, are staying al the Grand. Mr. M. L. Reading, late editor of the "Lyttelton Times," has been appointed editor of the Brisbane "Telegraph." Mr. J. H. C. Bond, Dominion superintendent of the N.Z.S. Co., left Auckland for Wellington by last night's express. Mr. and Mrs. M. Barnett, of Christchurch, and Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Norwood, of Wellington, are among the guests at the Grand. Mr. W. A. Black, who recently suffered a fractured leg and arm through a fall, is reported to be well on thq road to recovery. Mr. E. Gillon, chief mechanical engineer of the Railway Department, arrived at the Central Hotel from Wellington this morning. Mr. Ed. Craston, Mus.
