Hen eggs arc now very scarce, and the retail price this week Is 4/ per dozen, but in some establishments even higher figures are asked. Duck eggs arc selling at 2/0 par dozen, chilled eggs 3/ pot dozen, and pickled .eggs from 2/6 to 2/10 per dozen. So many warships In port greatly increased the demand for fresh hen eggs. Pactorv butter is etlli celling at 1/7. 1/6 and 1/5 per lb retail for the respective grades Farmers' make sails at various prices up to V 4 per lb, according to quality. Cheese is quoted at 1/ to 1/1 per lb, "according to maturity. Bacon and Lams are In good demand. Whole hams retail sell I/a to J/4 per lb, rashers 1/8 to 1/9. Bacon in cuts Is 10d to 1/S per lb, and In rashers 1/5 to 1/7.
