I COXFEREN'CE JJESOLUTIOXS. (By Telegraph.—Preee Association.) WELLINGTON,' this The secondary schools teachers' conference resolved, "That the executive of the association urge the Government to raise widows' pensions under the Superannuation Act, being of opinion that the present allowance is a mere pittance and a blemish on the education, system of , New Zealand." On the motion of Mr. ;T. 51. Kenner it -was resolved, "That this association expresses in general its' confidence in agreement with the present ! system of grading, classification and appointment of secondary schools teachers, and, would strongly disapprove of reverting to conditions obtaining previous to introduction of the present regulations pertaining to classification and the appointment of secondary school teachers." It was further resolved. "That the association protests strongly againct i interference contained in the reported ! statement of the director that the eehool I teachers' year consists Of 1000 official hours." A remit was carried to the effect that it is most desirable that any change in ' the syllabus for the matriculation ; entrance scholarship affecting the work of secondary schools in the current or, following year shall lie notified as promptly as possible after the annual meeting*-of the senate.
