MYTHICAL HORAHORA.
FURTHER AW AT THAN EVER. GOVERNMENT MAKES ANOTHER GUESS. Like Easter, the date of the arrival of power from Horahora may he said to be a "movable feast." Already it has been shifted several times. "When will Horahora power be available?" has been the cry in electricity circles for months, and even now no man can truthfully answer it. "The Government first of all promised us that power from Horahora hydro-electric station on the Waikato River would be here by the coming July; then they told us that it would be the end of the present year; now, within the last few days they tell us that every endeavour will be made to give us power by the winter of 1925!" said the chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board (Mr. W. J. Holdsworth) at the meeting, of the board, when, as usual, there were several applications for current that were dependent on getting the promised 2000 k.w. from the Government to eke out the power generated at the board's own station at King's wharf, Auckland. "If you know of any means by which you can push on the Government to hurry on Horahora it will be of help to the whole of your area," said Mr. Holds-worth, in answer to a deputation from the Mangere residents near the bridge head, who wanted a line run across from Onehunga.
