THE MEMORIAL BUILDING. COST AXD UPKEKP. Provision for giving civic financial . support to the Auckland War Memorial Museum was contained in v draft Bill to be presented to Parliament early in the forthcoming session, which Kill was approved by the City Council last evening. Voluntary contributions to the museum fund total £lt!O,00O, the estimated cost of the building being £185,----000. The Bill authorises) the council to subsidise the fund with whatever amount may ba required to complete the erection of the building, and in the event of the revenue of the .Museum I Trust Board being insufficient to maintain the museum the council may levy a rate not exceeding one penny "in the pound to meet the deficit. Authority is also sought to expend money on equipment for the museum. Permission is also sought to lend money up to £25.000 to the local bodies concerned for the concreting of the Great North Road from the Mount Albert boundary to Henderson. It was decided to ask the Hon. C. J. Parr to take charge of the Bill in the House of Representatives. - I
