HOOD V. REPULSE.

SAILOBS' CLEVEB DISPLAY.

At Victoria Park yesterday afternoon, 3000 spectators were treated to an excellent display of football by teams from the two battle cruisers. Keen rivalry exists between tbe two teams, tbe Repulse having defeated the Hood by two clear goals in" the final of the King's Cup competition at Invcrgordon, in the North of Scotland. Both the "Hoods" and the "Rep" had their full quota of barrackers and they did not spare themselves cheering on their favourites. THE PLAT. The teams were as follows:— Hood.—Parsons, Burke, Trafford, Kickwood, Wilson (capt.),. Xelland, Andrews, Palmer. Demellweek, Cox, Webb.

Repulse.—Mullet, Little, Cope. Campbell, Hall, Butler, Garside, Mills, Roberts (capt.), BatTe. Skinner. Referee..—Mr. S. Masters. • Hood won the toss, and the Repulse had the best of the opening exchanges, Raffe sending across a nice centre, which Parsons fisted clear. Keeping up the pressure. Skinner wan prominent with a nice ran and accurate centre, which went narrowly over the bar. "Boy" Demellweek was displaying clever footwork at centre for Hood, and led bis forwards away towards the "Heps' " coal. Roberts broke away, and nearly opened the scoring with a lovely shot from 30 yards out, which Parsons saved at the a corner. The Hood's men returned to the attack, and Mullet affected many clever saves. Cox cleverly beat two opponents, but missed badly when well placed. The same ' player again had a chance from a centre by Andrews, bat bad to yield to force of numbers. Wilson, tbe Hood skipper, was playing a great same, and let hiss forwards away time after time, hut weak finishing- proved their undoing. After Mullet had saved from Butler, Palmer found the net with a powerful snot, giving the "West County" men the lead. On resuming Repulse, through Mills and Skinner, tried bard to rednce the leeway. bat Burke and Trafford were putting up a stubborn defence. After Parsons had saved miraculously from Mills, Skinner had a frroat solo run, and Garside brought the scores level, amid great applause. Onlookers last Saturday were treated to a brilliant exhibition of the "soccer" code, and with the prospect of a dry ground, keen interest is being taken In the panic. The sailors, with the practice obtained during the week, should Improve on last week's showing, and will probably be favourites. The kick-off is timed for 3.15 p.m.. and a curtain raiser will be played between a V.M.C.A. team and an eleven from the Squadron.

JUNIOR REPS V. SQUADBON. (Under 20).

An ejoyable match was played between the above two teams at Victoria Park yesterday. After a hard game honours were even with the scores one all.

MT ALBERT V. AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

A match was played between the Mount Albert and Auckland Grammar School* on the Domain yesterday afternoon, the latter team playing two men short. The game was wen by S Mount Albert by three goal* to two. Webb and D Newman (2) icored for the winners, and Colebrook ana WatKtn for the losers. A return game has been arranged for Tuesday afternoon.
