C.J.C. EASTER MEETING.

A WIN FOR RAZZLE-DAZZLE. LIMELIGHT WINS THE AUTUMN. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A cold easterly rather spoiled the weather conditions at Riccarton to-day, but the attendance was not affected and the crowd was of large dimensions. The racing was good, and apart from the first race, free trom unpleasant incident. Immediately after the hurdles the stewards opened an inqairv into the running of the favourite, Frisco Mail, the inquiry, being adjourned until tomorrow morning. The Hurdles. Frisco Mail nnd Le Fort were well backed in the Kildare Hurdles. The order at the stands was Petunia, Bell Rock, Frisco Mail, Le Fort, Red Admiral, and Whipcord tailing off. Down the back Frisco Mail dropped right back to Whipcord, and Bell Rock improved his position. Bell Rock, Petunia, Red Admiral and Le Fort were prominent at the turn, and Bell Rock, clearing the last fence in the lead, went on to win comfortably by two and nJialf lengths from Lc Fort, with Red Admiral four lengths away third. Petunia was a good fourth. Red Admiral will be all the better for the gullop. A Certainty. Gaillard was backed as a certainty in the Champagne -Stakes, returning a fraction over even money. Lady Bcntinck, Trcshain, Gampbug and Footfall "were the others supported with spirit. Gaillard, Tresham, Lady Bentinck and Gamcbag, under the whip, were prominent at the turn, but Gaillard and L_uly Bentinck came away, and Gaillard easily won by two lengths from Lady Bentinck. Tanadees finished on in third place, three lengths away. Tresham was fourth and Quiescent next. It was a triumph for the North Island, nnd made the Southerners appear a poor lot. Another Hot Favourite. There were wholesale scratchings for the Autumn Plate. Clandhu was almost a two-to-one on favourite, with Last Dart hacked to beat him. The latter hung back nt the start, and round the top turn and Into the straight the order was Clandhu. Rhondda, Rivalry and Last Start. The latter commenced his run when in line for home, but failed to reach Clandhu by half a length. Rivalry was three lengths away, third, and Rhondda beaten off. Last Dart did well against his seasoned opponent., A Fine Finishing Run. Tutankhamen was a solid first choice for the Russley Plate, with Monoxide, the Clifford bracket. Deep Drive aud Hungry Hill, and Heather Lad next best backed. The field ran about at the start, but coming on to the course proper Deep Drive and Tutankhnmen were in front, with Monoxide and Te Anau Lad handy and Heather Lad well back. Deep Drive headed Tutankhamen at the distance, but Heather Lad came fast on the rails, and In a desperate finish Heather Lad won by a bare head from Deep Drive, with Monoxide another head away. Te Anau Lad and Ophir were very close up, next. It was a very good performance on the winner's part, as he had none of the luck in the running. The Easter Handicap. Sunny Loch was always favourite in the Great Easter, while there wns solid support for Razzle Dazzle and Last Crust. Boadlcea, lied Wink and Quest had the most supporters of the remainder. Quest, Ardour and Bonnie Winkic were chopped out nt the start, while Razzle Dazzle, Red Wink, Sunny Loch aud Boadloea jumped out well. Red Wink went with Razzle Dazzle for a furlong, hut dropped back slightly, leaving the leader clear, followed by a bunch including Red Wink, Boadicea, Goldspinner, Sunny Loch, Last Crust nnd Top Score iv that order." ' Razzle Dazzle was still going freely iv the lead at the turn, where Sunny Loch was, striding out well, and Last Crust rnn wide. Razzlc Dazzle held her advantage, and though Sunny Loch was desperately ridden he failed to reach her by one and a-half lengths;',. Boadieea was two iengths away, third,- with Red Wink close up fourth. Top Score, Fifth, Ardour sixth, and Quest seventh. The winner's quality stood to her, although Sunny Loch found no ndvantagc iir being drawn No. 1, for failing to go with the leaders in the early part he. was bumpered' slightly afterwards. Boadicea raced solidly and Red Wink better than wus expected, for he was decidedly sore. Ton Score finished on well, as did Ardour. Last Crust was a disappointment, nnd running out very wide nt the turn must have cost him any number of lengths. Won by a Head. G oldtown, Tbe Harp, _Ma Boughal and Miss Minerva were the only ones bucked with spirit in the Glmcrack Handicap. As ti_,e Held swept on to the" course proper the colour's of Finora, Perlno, Goldtown, The Ha r P, Tempe,' Gay Life and Mudlark were prominent. The Harp wont on with it, ni;d hud enough in reserve to stave off Cuinbrae ' by' a head, Ma Boughal," which came with a run in the straight, was nearly a length away, third, and was followed closely by Firestick, Gay Life, Geranninl and Mudlark. The winner won nicely. The second horse returned a dividend upproaching a quarter of a century. Tempe was shut in on the rail or she might have troubled the winner;* ■ The Favourite Scores. Limelight was the elect of backers in the Great Autumn, with Gold Light, Pllliewinkie, Sunart, Kilfane, Mantua - and The Polymnian backed in that order. Kilfane, Mantua, Winning Hit and Gold Light were the lenders out of the barrier, aud. round into the back straight, with Sunart and Limelight last. Mantua gradually dropped back, and running to the mile post' the order was (in pairs), Kilfane and Winning Hit, Gold Light and Dame Straitlace, Sunart and Polymnian, and Limelight and PiUlewinkie, with Mantua last. Six furlongs from home Winning Hit was out clear, with Limelight coming fast. At the turn for home she had joined PiUlewinkie, Gold Light and Kilfane,' the leaders, while Sunart was handy, just in front of Winning Hit. At the distance Limelight strode' to the front, and was not troubled' to win by one and u-qunrter lengths from Sunart, wbo finished well. Kilfane was a length away,' third, just in front of Gold Light, with PiUlewinkie and Mantua next. Limelight galloped quite up to her track form, and fairly spreadeagled the opposition., Sunart went his usual solid race, and filled the customary second place for his owner, Mr. Rod "McKenzie. Kilfane cut at Winning Hit for a mile, otherwise be might have been harder to beat. Gold Light bad every chance, and was fairly beaten, and the same applied to Pilliewinkie.' Polymnian was not sighted on the journey. v . " . The Heavy Weights. . Good money came for Tarlctpn In the Courtcnny Welter, and he finished up a good favourite, with Lucinette, Quality, Viewpoint uud Princ? Perouas well supported.. Tarleton was slow to" move, and "Quality and Viewpoint took, up tbe running, with Prince Ferouz, Lucinette and Rigel handy. Tarletpn improved his-position round'the turn,, and at ■ the straight "entrance tie was with the leaders, Quality and Prince Ferouz. Hard ridden dowii the straight Tarleton got up to beat Quality by one . and" a-half lengths, with Prince Ferouz a similar distance awa-y, third. Viewpoint and Lucinette' were next.
