The weather was line till about the sixth race, when a shower fell, and it continued showery till the programme was completed, though tiie rain was not sufliciently heavy to mar the proceedings; in fact for the two concluding events it was line. Mustard Pot Strikes Form. Bright Day was favourite for the Stewards' Handicap with Kinsein, Mustard I'ot, Prettyman, Cupidon and Martian Miss next in request. When they were let go I'rettyman and Tactful were in charge, and crossing the top the order was Prettyman, Tactful, Bright Day, all together, with Martian Miss, Royal Abbey, Kinsem, and Mustard Pot, following almost in a line. Entering the straight there was little to chose between Prettyman. Tactful and Bright s Day, witli Martian Miss, Royal Abbey, Kinsem and Mustard Pot handy. At the distance Mustard Pot came through, and won by a length and a-half from Kinsem, . which beat Royal Abbey by a neck. Then came Bright Day, Tactful, Martian Miss and Prettyman. An Outsider Scores. Kamebameba, Tactican, White Comet and Zaragoza were the scratchings for tbe Nelson Plate. Glenross was first fancy, with Lapidary, Uralla, Dancing Doll, Desert Glow and SleepySol next in request. A good race saw Golden Glass get home? .by a neck from Glenross, which beat Desert Glow by a head. Then followed Daylight, Finnote, Lapidary, Passionate and Archibald. The winner paid over a score. A Win for the Favourite. Son o' Mine was the only defection from the Victoria Handicap for two-year-olds. Merry Jest, ridden by H. Gray, was a . hot favourite, carrying £2200 more than Bosh, with Quinette, Rouex, Lady Rewa, Lake Uru and Master Doon next in demand. Lake Uru, Master Doon and Merry Jest were the leaders when the field got into its stride. Merry Jest soon took charge and led into the straight from • Lake Uru, Master Doon, Day Guard," Quinette and King's Folly. From tins out Merry Jest was not troubled, winning by two lengths from Master Doon, which beat King's Folly by a neck. Then came Day Guard, Princess Ronnie and Quinette. .Another. Good Dividend. Short-priced Favourite. The Great Northern St. Leger Stakes saw all go to the post with the exception of Queen March. Ballymena was the popular pick, aud was made a .very hot proposition, iafrying well over half the investments on the totalisator. Mtirihaupo, Peneloplion, Aprofortis, and Kalakaua were the nej-t best hacked. Kamehanieha led past the stand from Aerofortis, Ballymena, Murihaupo, Kalakaua, Tactician, and Penelophon. Alfort and" Prince Abbey were first into the straight from Prince Abbey, Tanjatete, Royal Blood, Hipo, apd Pavo, with Glentruin well back.
