THOROUGHBRED SALE. THE ORAN'GA STUD. A sale of thoroughbreds was held this morning on behalf of Messrs. Paterson Bros, at tbeir Oranga estate by tbe New Zealand Loan and -Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. There was a fair attendance, but bidding was very slow and only two lots were disposed of, a chestnut yearling filly by Thurnham—Juanna being purchased for 10 guineas by Mr. W. K. Cave, and the chestnut mare Cadence, by Cyremau—Lute, served by Romeo, being bought by Mr. A. Miller, Hamilton, for 20 guineas. Uralla and Pelham were passed at 200 guineas and 300 gulneas respectively. Two lots were offered on account of Dr. ,W. King, n chestnut Ally rising two yearn, by Day Comet—Miss Modest, and a chestnut gelding, 5 years, by Potoa—Freeaom mare, but both failed to reach the reserve. A number of otber horses were also of- [ fered on account of various owners, including Nocturne, but none of them were disposed of.
