EASTER SERVICES.
* The customary Easter services were held yesterday, white flowers being predominant in the decorations. The usual Easter prayer meeting was held at 7 a.m. on the top of Mt. Eden by the members of the Christian Endeavour UnionSpecial Easter music was sung in the various churches of all denominations. The Anglican Bishop of Auckland, Dr. A. H. Averill, preached at tho Cathedral, and again at St. Matthew's Church. Dr. Steward, Bishop of Melanesia, preached at St. Aidan's, Dominion Road. The ■ services at St. Paul's Church. Symonds Street, were largely attended. There were three celebrants of the Eucharist and at night there was festal evensong. The Auckland Baptist Tabernacle was crowded in the evening when the Rev. J. W. Kemp delivered the Easter message. "Humanity's Cross" was the subject dealt with at the Unitarian Church, Ponsonby Road, and Mr. Ernest Aldridge spoke on "Easter and the Christian's Creed" at the Church of Christ, West Street. At the Lyric Theatre yesterday evening "The World's Reconstruction" was the subject of the address at the gathering under the auspices of the International Bible Students' As- ! sociation.
