AUCTIONEERS' LIABILITY.
A FETE LEGAL POINT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Sunday. In a case before Mr. S. E. MannieU, S.M., in which Clouston and Pyne, stock agents, sued Hugh Berryman, of Nelson, for the recovery of £68 17/, balance alleged to be due on a line of sheep purchased by defendant at auction, JIr.A.E. L. Scantlebury, for defendant, moral for a nonsuit on the ground that tit persons suing were auctioneers and hid no cause of action in point of liw. If auctioneers had no lien", counsel stated; they had no right to sue. The magistrate indicated that tki point was a fine one, and had new before been raised in the Dominion. He would reserve his decision.
