GARNET ROAD, GREY LYNN.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —May I use your hospitable columns to call attention to the deplorable condition of Garnet Road, which is the only direct connecting road between the populous suburbs of Heme Bay and Grey Lynn? lam unfortunate enough to have to walk its whole length night and morning, and I can assure you that in the morning it is enough to make an angel weep, and on a dark night would make any saint swear. It is interesting to know of the s.s. Persic's load of new animals for the Council's latest plaything—the Zoo, and the very large sums of money which must have been, and must yet be, laid out on them are projbably well spent in the interests of Auckj land's young folk. But ought not good roads to come before a zoological park? Garnet Road is only a couple of hundred yards from the Zoo gates, and yet its surface would disgrace any backblock country. —I am, etc., F.A.C.
