PRICE OF BUTTER.
(To the Editor.) S\r, —I am sure the public will note with pleasure that the retail price of I butter is reduced by 2d per pound. Although a few days behind the drop on the English market, and on which j market the prices for our dairy produce iare based, this may have a steadying effect on the rank and file of the Bailway and Post and Telegraph Department and Civil Service generally, in their present dispute for increased wages, owing to the increased cost of living, and probably will, if various other commodities do not rise suddenly, as i they generally do with precise punctuj ality, when such reductions take place. i Anyway, let us trust the present drop will have a soothing influence on the Civil servant and housewife, and show them that their interests are being studied.—l am, etc., SEE-SAW.
