Mrs. W. I'avitt, of Remuera, 13 spending a few weeks' holiday in Wellington. Airs. J. V. Montague accompanied Mr. Montague to Napier, whore he is acting as a judge at the competitions. Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Kraer (Devonport) are spending the Easter vacation at liotorua. Mrs. J. AY. Court and her sister-in-law (Mrs. S. English) were passengers by the Ulimaroa for Sydney on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Raines sen. have taken up their residence at Rose Cottage, Takapuna. Mr. and Mrs. Beddoe have returned to Portland Road, Auckland, after a three months' stay at Hotel Mon Desir, Takapuna. Miss Coldicutt, who is about to be married, was the centre of a 0 harm ing little presentation recently, when the members of the Auckland Bowling Green, in which Mr. Coldicutt has always taken such a live interest, presented her with a canteen of cutlery. The presentation was made by Mr. W. Commons, senior vice-president of the bowling club. The monthly meeting of the Arts and Crafts Circle, Lyceum Club, took placec on Monday evening, when an address was given by Mr. John Haley on watercolour painting. Mr. Haley referred to the history of painting in water colours, and touched on the modern method in this medium. During the evening lie also gave a criticism of the sketches ; exhibited. j Miss Ina Bosworth, who is at present staying with Mrs. B. Garland, "Trevena," Cambridge, held a very successful concert recently in Hamilton, and at the request of the public is also giving one in Cambridge. Afterwards, Miss Bosworth returns to Auckland to fulfil engagements with the Bohemian Society and Orchestral Society. A pleasant little function took place on Thursday at the Business GlHs' Club, when the committee bade farewell to Miss Chappell, the manager, who is retiring through ill-health after seven years' service. In the absence of Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, the president, who was leaving town and could not attend, Miss Statham, the executive president, made the presentation, which wae in the form of a purse of sovereigns. Mrs. Ferguson also forwarded a pretty handbag with her good wishes for her restoration to health. Miss Statham expressed the appreciation of the committee of the efforts Miss Chappcll had always made for the welfare of the club, and Miss C'ooksey alao spoke in the same strain on behalf of the members, all wishing her a speedy restoration to health and strength. Miss French, who succeeds Miss Chappcll was then introduced to the members, and heartily welcomed. The club are also unfortunately losing the services of Miss Pago, who was hon. secretary for some years,' and is now going to Australia to recuperate after a very severe illness, and the committee forwarded to her a slight token of gratitude for her untiring efforts on behalf of the club. At the last meeting of the board of directors of the Young Women's Christian Association it was reported that Miss Esther L. Anderson, national general, secretary, would pay a visit to the association in June. It was also reported that Miss Jean Stevenson, formerly national industrial secretary of the °Y.W.C.A. of Australia and New Zealand, hud accepted the, position of acting-general secretary during Miss Griffin's absence, and would take up her duties towards the end of May. Miss Griflin sailed for England on April 11 for a period of rest and study. The cubicle and dormitory accommodation provided in the Queen Street administration building lias proved very popular and of assistance to many travellers. Up to date it has been used mostly for transient accommodation, but it has been decided that during the winter months at any rate permanent boarders will be catered for, this to be commenced immediately after Easter. The association has been fortunate in being able to rent a cottage at Campbell's Bay for Easter and during week-ends in the winter as required, as it liae not been possible so far to have the building on their own property erected. This temporary arrangement will make it possible for groups of girls, in charge of a secretary, to get a little rest and change during the winter. A camp is being held there this Easter, under the charge of Miss Tulloch and Miss Jones. Mr., Mrs. and Miss Dransficld, Tc Aroha; Mr. and Mrs. Gilfillan, Hamilton; Mr. and Mrs. Ross and son, Hamilton; Mr. and Mrs. Doughty, Taumarunui; Mr. and Mrs. Dcvine, Auckland; Mrs. Pirani and Miss Millar, Auckland; and Mr. and Mrs. C. Walker, Hamilton, are staying at Hotel Mon Desir, Takapuna, for Easter. ENGAGEMENTS. The engagement is announced of Miss Elener Scholium, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wenzl Svcholhim, Auckland, to Mr. Daniel Moore, second eon of Mr. and Mrs. George Moore, of Dalby, Queensland, Australia. R6TORUA NOTES. Miss M. Hanron, of the massage department of King George-V. Hospital, Rotorua, has resigned her position after ;5* years' service, and has left Kotorua for' Sydney. Mr. and Mrs. J. Douglas Davies, Pukuatua Street, leave at the end of the week for Auckland, where they will spend the Easter holidays. Miss Hilda Nixon leaves Rotorua at the end of the week for Auckland, where she will spend the Easter holidays. Mrs. R. C. Smith, Te Kgae, Rotorua, is on a visit to the South Island. i Recently a children's dance was organised. The hall, with it's jazz decorations and the many children's pretty frocks, presented a gay scene. Between the dances games were played, which caused much merriment. A dainty supper was served at 9 p.m., , . when from then on until midnight the grown-up folk spent a very enjoyable time.
