A PROVINCIAL ..CHOP. The Selwvn Athletic Club was favoured by fine weather for its fourth annual sports meeting, held at Mangatapu (Selwyn siding, Rotorua line) on Thursday. Consequently the attendance was large, and big entries and keen contests resumed In an enjoyable day's outing. In all some -260 was distributed in prize money. Tbe £100 chop, 15----inch, Btanding, was won by G. Parkes and M. J. Marriner (dead heat), with C. W. Dwyer third. The Auckland Provincial standing chop. 18-inch blocks, for £20 an.' a gold medal, was won by W. Green, or Kawhia. The results of the various events follow:— 12-inch Standing Chop.—First heat: G. Green's time in the championship chop, 72 seconds, was stated on the ground to be only two seconds more than the world's record. KAIKOHE SPORTS. KAIKOHE, this day. At the Kaikohe axemen's sports on Saturday the principal event, the Axemen's Cup, was won by Tahu Wihongl. who had 20s start, with P. Matthews (12s) second and W. McCraitU (scr) third. 9 —
