TROTTING.

« METROPOLITAN MEETING. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) CHRISTCHUBCH, Saturday. The weather was threatening ror the opening or the Metropolitan Trots to-day, but not enough rain fell to affect the attendance. Audacious, a good second choice, made no race or the Fendaiton Handicap, and won pulling up rrom Jim Logan and Golden Devon. Riddle's horse Kissing Cup, was slow at the start, and was always in the ruck. - Realm was a good favourite for tbe Easter Handicap, with Loganwood and the Bryce bracket Alto Cblmes and Great Hope next ln request. Loganwood lost ground at tbe start, and the leaders all the way were Moneymaker, Alto Chimes, and VUo. Moneymaker did not stay as well as tbe other pair, and Alto Chimes won comfortably from VHo. Man-o'-War put In a great run ln the middle mile, but had no chance of catching the leaders, finishing fourth. Realm could not go with Man-o'-War, and finished well back, and the remainder performed poorly. Loganwood should do much better later in the meeting. Oalnahlne for once raced up to his track form. and. righting out a good finish ln the Wilkin Handicap, paid a dividend little short or the thirty mark. A melee at the start may have affected the result of the race. Dolly Dillon and Harbour Light raced well, and the latter would have won but for a break in the last half furlong. Our Lady was at a double-figure price when she won the Autumn Handicap. Clonmel. which eventually nnlsbed third, apS eared a certain winner two furlongs from ome, but a bad break put him out or count. Bundaberg trotted a sound race without showing brilliancy. Riddle's msre, Marlon Style, was never dangerous. Nlkora trotted a fair race, nnlshing a good rourth, but Peter Dean was never In the picture. Agathos showed his old rorm by defeating a high-class field -ln the Flying Handicap, again there being a double-ilgure dividend. Bonny Logan failed to stay, being beaten into second place, while Don Wild came well from the back mark into third place. Pitaroa was fourth and Argus nrth, both pacing good races.
