THE AUTUMN MEETING. HIPO WINS 810 EVENT. PATHKR'S VOICE THE ONSLOW. ' The Autumn Meeting of the Auckland Kacng Club was opened at Ellerslie on Saturday in glorious weather. There was a large attendance, including Lord and Lady Jellicoc. The track was in good order, and the racing was most interesting throughout. A Surprise in the Easter. Royal Blood and Jovial were the only acceptors for the Easter Handicap who failed to keep their engagements. Ruar apa was entrusted with most confidence, carrying over £000 more than -.lurihaupo, with Loyal Irish, Prettyman, Alfort, Martian Miss, Musk-toon next in request. Hipo was eleventh in order of selection. When the field got into its stride Prettyman, Murihaupo, Hipo, Charlady, Landslide and Broadwood were racing as named, but before the top was reached Broadwood had taken charge from Hipo, Charlady, j Prettyman, Martian Miss, Solfanello and Ruapapa, the laßt named four being; in a bunch. Broadwood was first to turn for home from Hipo, Prettyman, Charlady, Martian Miss and Alfort. Hipo then came through, and going on won by half a length from Loyal Irish, who beat Murihaupo by a neck. Then came Alfort, Martian Miss, Landslide, Cupidon, Ruapapa and* Tactful. The winner returned the best part of a score. Win for Her Excellency. * - Merry Jest was first fancy for the two-year-old event, the Onslow Stakes, with Father's Voice, Chairman, Town Bank and Lake Uru the next beat backed. Father's Voice was soon in front, with Merry Jest handy, and these two piloted the field across the top from Lake Uru, Chairman and Son o' Mine. Father's Voice waa the first to turn for home, but at the' distance Merry Jest ranged alongside the leader. A good race resulted in Father's Voice getting the verdict by a head, with Lake Uro three lengths further back, followed by Chairman, Phoenix Park and Princeu Ronnie. Father's Voice ruiis -in the colours of her Excellency Lady Jellicoe, and the win was a popular one. A Cloae Finish. Thirty-six went to the post for the Mangere Handicap, for which Glenross was favourite, with Uralla, the bracket Sleepy Sol and Sunny Roe, Daylight, Desert Glow and Far North (coupled) next in demand. Dan Quin and Kuhio were first out and led into the straight from Sunny Roe, Daylight, Highflown and Praiseworthy. Dan Quin held his own from this out, winning by a neck from Uralla, Highflown, and Praiseworthy, who deadheated for second place. Then came Sleepy Sol, Daylight, Arch Ami and Sunny Roe. The winner paid over a score. . . . _■' The Concluding Event. -Ares was,; favourite for. the concluding event, the Eden Handicap, with Namutere, Mustard Pot, Jovial, Some Fashion and J?avo next in request. Ares waa the early leader from Nocturne, Gold Rain, and Some Fashion. Prince Abbey took charge across the top from Area and Jolly Gay. Prince Abbey waa the first•to turn fdr home, and going on won by a length and a half from Pay>, which beat Nocturne by a head. Then came Mustard Pot. Jovial, Ares and Gold Kip. The Totalisator.
