OHAKUNE NEWS.
At the last meeting of the Ohakune Bprough Council live building permits were granted. Three others should have come forward, but did not arrive in time. Mr. Cnrrau's new baker's shop and tearooms and also the new Municipal Chambers are to be commenced shortly. The two new municipal cottages are nearing completion. It is understood that the Hallway Department has called tenders for the erection of ten more new railway cottages. Mr. T. Herbert's two up-to-date shops have just been completed at the junction. At the Ohakune Magistrates Court a man named Hobman was charged with driving over a railway crossing at a speed exceeding 10 miles per hour and not keeping a proper lookout. He was convicted and lined £2, with costs and witnessesexpenses amounting to .-_. 4 3'S. A wedding of local interest took place at the Presbyterian Church, Ohakune. last week, the contracting parties beiu;; William Scott Mitchell and Jane Fletcher. Tbe He v. Nicholas officiated.
