Work has just been commenced on the erection of three modern brick shops with dwellings attached, at the Grey Lynn terminus. These shops, which will include all the latest methods of construction and interior fitting, will cost about £2700. Messrs. Johns Bros, are the builders and they expect to finish this job in about three months' time. 'Operations on the warehouse in Federal Street for Messrs. Evans and Hooper, are progressing rapidly. These premises will be of two storeys in brick and concrete and will Be used by the owners to cope with their rapidly increasing business. Work is to be commenced immediately on the erection of a block of offices on the corner of Anzac Avenue and Short Street, to the order of the The Pukemiro Collieries Ltd. These premises will have a frontage to Anzac Avenue of 55ft, and to Short Street 70ft. Five storeys in height, it will be of reinforced concretethroughout, stanchions, beams, floors and staircases being of this material. The fiat roof will be covered with Neuchatel asphalt. An electric lift- will run to the full "height of the building. The ground and first floors will be used as a motor garage and showroom, with access from both streets. From the Short Street entrance cars will go up a ramp on to a wooden turntable, which will divert the cars to any position. The second floor is cut up into offices for the sole use of the company. The two top floors have not yet been divided, it being left to suit tenants. The estimated cost is approximately £16.000. The contractors are Messrs. W. J. Grevatt and .Son. Good progress has been made with the new garage for Gillett Motors Ltd. The owners have had the use of the building as regards workshops and housing of cars on all floors since before Christmas, and the office portion will be changed • over by the end of the month when the job will be fully completed. The contractors, Messrs W. J. Grevatt and Son. have had the job on their hands for six months, and this means that the owners will' get their building three months ahead of contract time. This job has cost £20,000. The architect is Mr. Sinclair O'Connor. A two-storey brick building is in course of erection on the corner of Victoria Street and Federal Street, to the order of Mr. Jellich who intends to use the building as two shops on the floor, with the upper floor as a showroom. The builders are Messrs C. F. Hamon and Sons. Work on the warehouse for Hutchinlons, Ltd.. on Beach Road and Anzac Avenue, is progressing rapidly, and it is expected to complete at an early date. The insulated cool stores at the city markets, to the order of -Radley and Co., have just been finished. Extensive alterations and additions to -hatfield's Chambers in Custom Street have been carried out by Messrs J. T. Julian and Son. A new lift has been installed, and a motor garage fronting on to Gore Street attached. The Colosseum job is well under way, and will be finished before Christmas.
