N.Z. COUNCIL TAKES ACTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The following cablegram has been sent by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council to Mr. H. D. Swan, New Zealand representative in England :—"Open negotiation's with the M.C.C. to try to arrange for an English side, I returning via Panama or Canada, playing two or three matches in New Zealand Letter following." OTAGO V. SOUTHLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association.) n-u c INVERCARGILL, Thursday. The Soufhland-Otngo cricket match was continued this morning in fine weather. The wicket was dry and in very fair order Southland resumed batting, taking the score from 07 to 223 for six wickets. Hamilton took the score to 60, and Drlseoll got 41. Cavanagh gave a pretty display of hatting ! tor 40, scoring well all round the wicket. . Two colts, Klelby and Lynch, both in, made _U. Scores :— SOUTHLAND—First Innings.
