(By Telegraph.— Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Trade in oats has brightened up during the last few days, and an advance of a penny was recorded to-day, A grade Gartons going up to 4/10 and B's to 4/31. There is such a margin of difference between the two grades so far as prices are concerned that merchants are beginning to turn their attention to B's. Chaff has again eased in price, and sales have been made on the basis of £7 17/0, f.o.b.s.i. - In the face of reports of a smaller yield from the peninsula this year, cocksfoot has become easier, but merchants now find that large stocks are being held by the growers of last year's seed. Standard seed of the 1023 crop has been sold at 123 d this week. There has been some inquiry lately for partridge peas, and as much as 6/6 is being paid for them at country stations, hut very little is offering. Potatoes have eased during the week owing to it having become known that the 'Auckland merchants have purchased 500 tons of Tasmanian potatoes, to be landed shortly at that port. Orders from Wellington for potatoes for prompt delivery have eased off, owing to the quantity of Mana-watu-grown tubers offering. Farmers are not, however, showing any great anxiety to sell. Reports concerning the condition of crops are conflicting. Some people state that the crops will turn out well, while some, on the other hand, express the opinion that the prolonged spell of dry weather will have an adverse effect on them. Meanwhile there is plenty of sun by day and good dews by Eight. LONDON MARKETS.
