HOAXING A BISHOP.

Mr. Karran was lined £10 and £20 costs for sending the Bishop of Sodor and Man a telegram signed "Baldwin," arranging a meeting at Liverpool. The Rev. Karran explained that he had concocted the telegram as a joke to cheer a girl passenger who was threatened with sea sickness. It was intended to suggest that Mr. Baldwin (Prime Minister) wanted to offer the bishop an English bishopric of which there had been local rumours.— ("Sun.") A practical joke was played on the Bishop of Sodor and Man, and caused a sensation in the Tsle of Man. The bishop received a hoaxing telegram summoning him to the mainland, compelling him to abandon speaking in the hical Parliament on the Manx Church Assembly Bill. The Rev. Karran (vicar of Marathan) confessed that he instigated the telegram. The disclosures shocked Church circles.
