FRENCH ECONOMIES.
POINCARE'S PROPOSALS. LONDON, January 25. The Paris correspondent of the "Daily ' Telegraph" states that a big debate, that * may extend over a week, is promised over M. Poincare's drastic financial proposals, ' jlt is expected that M. Poincare will make ; jeaeh item a question of confidence. The Entente Republieaine, the chief Govern- * ' ment party, numbering 170. has decided to support the proposals, provided that economies are adopted first. Most of the Left parties are proposing a series of amendments. The Government is expected ! to withstand the assaults, as the balance ! of opinion in the Chamber appears to favour tbe proposals.— (A. and N.Z.)
