SOUTHLAND WOOL SALE.
LARGE OUTSIDE BUYING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGII.L, Friday. Kecord prices for Southland were obtnined at the iirst wool sale of the season, which concluded today The top price was 2fMd, which was obtained for four bales of tine lialfbrcd. Throughout the sale bidding was brisk, Bradford, Continental, tinrl American buyers operating freely. A considerable amount of wool was bought for the Continent, and Herman buyers assisted in keeping prices up. Very few lots were passed at auction. As much as (id over valuation prices was secured in some cases. The keen competition kept the local buyers quiet, and few lines remain in New Zealand. The prices realised arc as follows: —
