CRIMINAL SESSIONS.
AUCKLAND CASES TOR TRIAL. HIGGINS TO APPEAR. The first quarter's Criminal Sessions open at Auckland Supreme Court oa Tuesday, February 5. A number of cases have been set down for trial, including two charges of murder which have been preferred against John Christopher Higgins, of Waikino. In addition to cases where a plea of guilty has been tendered, the calendar, which is not yet complete, contains the names of persons who have pleaded not guilty to alleged offences as follows:— John Christopher Higgins, murder (2 charges) ; Louis Raymond, assault and robbery; Yvette Burke Roche, permitting instrument to be used unlawfully; Thomas ilcllullan, unlawful carnal knowledge (2 charges); George Scothern, breaking, entering, theft and wilful damage; Clarence Russell and Henry James Abraham, conspiring with intent to defraud (2 charges) and false pretences (2 charges); Ben Barker, indecent act; Clyde Powell Ludwig, theft (2 charges); Clyde Powell Ludwig, , Walter Barraclough and Percy McGilvray, theft; Archibald Henry Ensor, bigamy; George Warren Hastings, theft.
