ALLOCATION OF REVENUE RECEIVED. The Government has decided that the revenue derived from license fees and I the royalties paid on the sale of opossum j skins in New Zealand shall be devoted half to acclimatisation societies and half to the State Forest Service. In making the announcement on Tuesday, the Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs, stated that the decision as to the allocation of the I revenue in equal proportions to the j acclimatisation societies and the State j Forest Service was come to some time ago, but since the acclimatisation ! societies had pressed for a. reversion tc the old system of allocating the revenue viz., fn'o-thirds to the societies and the remaining one-third to the State Fore3< Service. "The matter has, however,' said Mr. Bollard, "been most carefully I considered, and the Government decided to affirm the decision already come to j From information placed before mc ii seems clear that the amount of revenut available will be largely in excess of tht amount obtained last year. Even a< J the reduced proportion acclimatisation societies will, in the majority of cases, ai least be receiving as much as, if nol more revenue, than that received in past seasons."
