COURTING IN PARKS.
CLERGYMAN IN DEFENCE. LONDON, September -26. "I should like to give the fullest opportunity for courting," said Canon Durell, a Clapham Tector, whose house overlooks the common, referring to the attitude of the Public Morality Council. i"I see no barm in couples using the parks for that purpose. I certainly will not count the large number of couples to be seen on the ground on Clapham Common as co many cases of immorality. "Undoubtedly there is a vast amount of social evil in the open spaces owing to the laxness allowed during the war, but the Pufttie Morality Council has not distinguished between vulgarity and impropriety. I look to public opinion and the employment of wisely-trained policeI women, to provide a remedy."
