LION CUBS AT ZOO.
THEIR FATE DISCUSSED. Speculation has been rife (says the "Dominion") as to what will become of the four lion cubs who now occupy pride of place at the Wellington Zoo, and j whose playful antics are watched with I breathless interest by every child who | visits the garden. A suggestion was j forthcoming at a meeting of the City Council on Friday, when the report of the Reserves Committee was being considered. "I would like this city to set its face against the disposal of cubs for the use of performing circuses," said Councillor F. Meadowcroft. "Has anything been done as yet?" Councillor W. J. Thompson: The question is under consideration at the present time. The Mayor: What would you do with them, Councillor ileadowcroft? Councillor Meadowcroft: What do you do with kittens? (Laughter.) You keep one or two and destroy the rest.
