I THE FUI-I, WEEKLY RATE. I CONTINGENCIES AXD THE SCALE. (By Telccraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. ! "It appears to us that the wording of the clause of the award is so clear and precise that it is impossible to regard any reduction from weekly wages in respect to time lost on Anzac Day as being permissible," stated the Arbitration Court to-day. " There are other occasions, apart from holidays and Anzac Day, on which, through no fault of either party, the full week's work ! cannot he performed, hut the award may lie considered as having provided suffi- ' eicnt for such circumstances by having I fixed the minimum weekly wage at a i somewhat lower rate than would be j represented by 45 hours pay at the casual rate. Such contingencies must Ibe deemed to be contemplated by both worker and employer when the contract for weekly hiring is entered into." The award under discussion was the typographical. — ]
