NEW ZEALAND'S HELP.
OFFER OF FOOD. THROUGH BRITISH GOVERNMENT. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Following on this morning's meeting of Cabinet, at which Ministers discussed the question of assisting the people of Japan, the acting-Prime Minister, Sir Francis Bell, stated that Cabinet had considered it very doubtful whether public subscription of money was appropriate for relief in the case of a great nation euch as Japan. Should the Lord Mayor of London's fund be held open, the Government would reconsider the question of inviting the Mayors in New Zealand to open subscription lists. The Government, said Sir Francis Bell, desires to join with the British Government in the cost incurred by it in sending food and similar relief, and is offering a contribution to that effort.
