FINANCE OF RAGING.
NAPIER PARK DEFICIT. "SOMETHING MIST BE DONE." <B.v Telegraph.—rress Association.) NAPIER, this day. At the anuual meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club to-day the retiring president. Mr. Strachan, reporting on the question of taxation, stated that the club's year's operations showed a loss of £1437 "l!)/8. Mr. Vigor Brown stated that the question of finance was an acute one, and i something would have to be done. He moved, '"That the attention of the Minister of Internal Affairs be drawn to the enormous sum paid by racing clubs jbv way of taxation: that this meeting fears that unless the amount is considerably reduced a large number of clubs will be compelled to go out of existence." The motion was carried unanimously. The chairman then submitted a statement showing the taxes paid out during the racing year of 1922-23, which made a total paid out of £5800 19/4.
