"CLEANING UP."
WELLINGTON AND AUCKLAND. REPLY TO MR. GUNSON. (Tiy Telegraph.—Pro's Association.} WELLINGTON. Friday. Mr. IT. D. Bennett, president of the J Wellington Health Week Executive, I stated that there was evidently a wron£ ' impression in Auckland respecting health week, according to the reported reply j by the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. It. j Gunson, to a letter from the Health Week Committee of the Koyal Sanitary Institute. Mr. Gunson was reported as having stated there was no occasion for i a special effort in Auckland, as th 2 activities of the sanitary inspectors' department were continuous, and health ' conditions in Auckland were satisfactory, j Mr. Bennett said health week was not merely a clean-up, but had a wider educational appeal. It 'had its origin in the highest public and professional circles in England, and was under Rpyal patronage. Housing questions, and personal ' hygiene, were within its scope, the cleaning service 'being only a subordinate idea to its wider ideals.
