A DIVORCE ADJOURNMENT.
HONEYMOON'S EARLY "WAN-. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. When the divorce petition of Robert William Thomas Stevenson, picture theatre proprietor, Paeroa, against his wife, Beatrice Elizabeth Mary Stevenson, in which Michael Pennell, labourer, of Paeroa, was cited as co-respondent, came on for hearing before Mr. Justice Stringer to-day, Mr. Gray, representing respondent, asked for an adjournment, as respondent was at present an inmate of St. Helens Hospital, Auckland, and 1.-- cnr~'tiv pi Paproa had not had an opportunity of preparing a defence. Mr. Gillies, for the petitioner, said the petition could have been heard at the May sittings, but there was an adjournment by consent. He held, he said, indisputable proof of adultery, including a confession signed in the presence of respondent's own solicitor. He was piven to understand that the constant delay by respondent was in order that she might continue to enjoy £2 per week which her husband was paying her under an order of the Court, made at Morrinsville. The case was a particularly gross one. as the couple had only been married three months when the husband discovered that while .. ■ iii r»»noni!ont "had stayed at his house all night with his (petitioner's) wife. His Honor said there were several grounds of defence to an action of this I kind, and he could not very well preclude a woman from statins her case if she wished to defend the suit. The case must not, however, be delayed beyond next session. A decree absolute was granted in the divorce application of Ernest Mills Hurley, against Mary Annie Elizabeth Hurley.
