WON BY AUCKLAND, (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") WANGANTJI. Saturday. The Junior Representative match, Auckland v. Wanganui, was played to-day in Bne weather, with a fair attendance. The Heard, Gribble, Dare, McLean Bheen, Maxwell, Maetere, W. F. Charter, Brown, Noakee, Miller, McCartney Clarke, Ross. Llneham. U'Rneanui. —Phillips, Lynch, McFarlane, Wilson Glasgow, E. Reid, Chlsholm, Helse, Hood Gibson, Johnston, Ross,.an? Dristol. Auckland opened with a light wind and sun aealnst them; the balance of weight belnu in their favour. From halfway In the first iivj minutes, Masters Initiated a Dsss to Maxwell, then to McLean, who had no difficulty in breaking through Dare tried unsuccessfully at goal Wanganui then swept away to the other end, and when near the line, Lynch snapped up and scored The try was converted. The Auckland half initiated another attack, carrying play to the twenty-live, but Phillips neatly saved. This was followed up by another series of paeecs, which could have resulted In a sure try, only a pass to the wing went forward. Towards the end of the epell Wanganui worried the visitors more, and play was more centralised. The ball went out near the Wancanul corner, and, on it being thrown in, Auckland tried another pass, which went out too low from the gather in, and tbe attempt was futile. Miller was obliged to retire Just before half time, and Cox was substituted. Shortly after resuming the local forwards gradually worked their way to the visitors' twenty-live and from close work In the line Lynch scored near the corned. The kick failed, leaving the score 8 nil. The visitors swept away to the other end, and Phillips just managed to force, Wauganui attacked again, and a mark by Masters cleared. The red forwards kept up a battery attack, and the ball swept to Heard, who mis-kicked behind his own line, allowing McFarlane to score. Bristol failed with the kick. Wanganui 11, Auckland 8. From a free kick Dare sent over a splendid goal at an angle and evened the score. Auckland tried hard to score again, feintIng a passing attack to the left but failed. Then play was switched smartly across the Beld, but this was counteracted a few feet from the goal-line. The visitors followed this up with another pass from the scrum, and Gribble crossed. Dare goaled. Auckland Iβ, Wanganui 11. Auckland had a near call when Lynch got away, but he was pushed out at the corner. A most interesting struggle. now ensued, and it was about live minutes before the visitors were out of difficulties. The reds were away again and Bristol had a clear run, but he let the pass drop. A Rugby match, Auckland v. Hamilton, was played on the Show Grounds before a 'food crowd. A strong breeze blew down the ground. The teams were:—

Hamilton kicked off with the wlntf. The Auckland forwards were soon attacking etronely. and caused- Hamilton to force early. Both sides followed with exchanges, and Bayly relieved the local line with a magnificent kick. 'From the throw-In the Hamilton backs carried the ball to the visitors' twenty-live, Auckland forcing. From a line out toe local backs again got going, with (Buckingham and Lenlhan prominent, but 'Goodacre wived ■ wltlh a kick. Then Auckland went forward again from a mark, and the flrst quarter ended with no score. In the next quarter the game opened up considerably. Bayly-made a brilliant run down the line, ibut was stopped by Goodacre. Then Wilson came the other way, and I looked tike scoring, but fMatbeson lirought him down. Then followed give and take play, the local forwards (baring the better of it, Johnston saving toy a timely marlj. lAgaln the Jocal men came, with Bayly. Kemp and Tanner at the head, and from a scrum on the line Sowman dived over and scored, Monagettl converted, and the epell ended: 'Hamilton ....; 5 Auckland o THE SECOND SPELL. The second spell opened with Hamilton forwards smothering Auckland, Bishop breaking through the rock again and again until Tanner picked up, and sending to Kemp, to Buckingham, to Castles, who ironed. The kick was a failure. ■From the kick-off a pretty bit of play followed tmone Auckland backs, with Earlly I dodging through the -whole of the local fori wards, passing out to Wiseman, who was grounded on the line by Olathieson. Turning for the last time Hamilton had a stroug sun lin their eyes, and play foe' some time was uninteresting, though the defence, of botn sides was good. Gray and Sowiuiin made a breakaway from the line-out, and Auckland had to force. Then Auckland put a little life into the game and tried valiantly to score, but were not successful, arid play finished in Auckland's twenty-five in Hamilton's favour. Hamilton 8 Auckland 0 For the winners the forwards plaj-ed exceptionally well. Bishop being outstanding. It would be had to pick out any of the backs for special mention, all playing well. Auckland seemed tired - towards the end of the match and were out-played. Goodacre made a very fine full-back, his tackling being deadly. Others prominent were Mnir, Earlly and (Batty. Mr. R. A curtain-raiser was played -flrst between 'Rotorua and Hamilton Schools, the local toys winning by 12 to 0; also Weslfey 0, were defeated by Old Boys Juniors 3.
